The 2019 Hyundai Tucson: A Top-Selling SUV with Tons of Tech
September 09 2019, Hyundai Gallery
The Tucson is Hyundai’s best-selling crossover in Canada for many reasons. In rhythm with other Hyundai models, the Tucson receives several updates to its entire model line. The Essential, Preferred, Luxury, and Ultimate trims compose the lineup this year. The Tucson is also available with a choice of two engines.
The exterior gains cosmetic and functional exterior updates, including a new cascading grille and daytime running LED headlights. The redesigned rear fascia has updated taillights and new alloy wheels underneath. Hyundai also adds value with several standard exterior features, including projector headlights with LED accents, daytime running lights, automatic headlights, front fog lights, and a roof-mounted Centre High-Mount Stop Lamp. A safety-enhancing windshield wiper de-icer is standard across all trims.
The Preferred trim and up receive blind spot detection indicators and a mirror-mounted LED turn signal indicator. The Ultimate model upgrades to wider custom 19” wheels and rain-sensing wipers.
Better Engines and Performance in the 2019 Hyundai Tucson
Drives will love the new, powerful, naturally aspirated engine choices. The base 2.0-litre direct-injected four-cylinder with 164 horsepower is standard in the Essential and Preferred models. The FWD engine maintains an SUV-efficient fuel consumption level at 10/7.9 l/100 km (city/highway), whereas the AWD version achieves 10.8/9.2.
A more powerful, 181-horsepower 2.4-litre four-cylinder engine powers the remaining trims. Both engines pair up with a six-speed automatic transmission with Shiftronic manual shifting and overdrive lock-up torque converter.
A Comfortable Interior with Many Features in the 2019 Hyundai Tucson
The interior of the Tucson offers a long list of standard equipment in all categories. All trims comfortably seat five passengers and have heated front seats. The rear seats are in a 60/40 configuration and fold completely flat to expand the cargo area. A rear view camera, iPod/USB/MP3 with auxiliary input jacks, and Android Auto and CarPlay provide additional safety and entertainment.
The Preferred trim has a heated, leather-wrapped steering wheel, while the Preferred with Trend Package and above have a panoramic sunroof. The Ultimate trim provides premium features such as an 8.0” navigation system touchscreen, Rear Park Assist, Smart Cruise Control with traffic stop and go, a power passenger seat, and more.
